The story so far

The early days

We began life as a 'house group' that met in various homes in Macclesfield led by Cliff Bradbrook. Most Sundays we would travel to South Manchester Family Church in Didsbury but we occasionally met together in Macclesfield. Gradually, as more people joined us from Macclesfield, we realised that God intended us to plant a church here. In 2002 Keith and Esther Gamon felt God directing them to move from Manchester to Macclesfield and, with the backing of the Newfrontiers apostolic team in Manchester and the local leadership in Macclesfield, they moved to lead the church and start regular meetings in the town.

The launch

In February 2003 we launched as Macclesfield Family Church and started to meet together on Sundays at the Peatfields Centre in Macclesfield. The church started with about 20 people, mainly those who were here already but also two couples who moved from the Manchester area. By the end of 2007 a number of new families had joined us and we were starting to gather too many people to fit into the Peatfields Centre so we moved to a larger venue kindly offered to us by Macclesfield Town Football Club and began to meet there in the first week in January 2008. In early 2008 we believed that God was prompting us to find our own venue in order to become more effective in serving the wider neighbourhood in Macclesfield, and in March 2008 we moved into our new home at the Silklife Centre and began to meet there on Easter Sunday 2008.

Today and tomorrow

Since our humble beginnings, God has blessed us massively and has added some great people to us, many have moved into the area and others who lived locally already have come to know Jesus through us being here. We relaunched in September 2009 as Silklife Church and elders were appointed in December. We now gather with nearly 100 people on Sundays and we're trusting that God will keep building his church as our story goes on...
